What Cities Have That My Middle-of-Nowhere “HomeTown” Doesn’t
I’ve started to believe that I could truly be happy again, this year, but Richmond really seals the deal. I’ve noticed that I’m laughing louder. The world seems brighter. I’m so excited for right now and also for my future. These are feelings I didn’t realize I had forgotten.

We all hear about a lot of awful things happening all around us, everyday. Even if we try to step aside from how much we may be reading and watching the news- we hear about it. Recently, I’ve been trying to keep up with the news. I get daily emails from Vox that I enjoy because they list articles from a range of sources, aside from Vox. It’s a good thing; I think it is important to strive for a certain amount of political literacy. It does effect us, after all. So many stories are tragic, and the worst ones for me are the ones where the victim is the only one who sees any consequences. This was one of the stories that caught me eye. I read it. And I read it. And I cried because sometimes it just hits you hard, you know? I’m linking the article here because I don’t have the words for this one. There are similar articles listed at the bottom of it. This incident happened three years ago, but only now is the information public. He wasn’t “just another man” killed by the police. He had a name. They all did. He had a life and people who loved him. They all did. Rest in peace, Tony. You deserved better. I hope you are in a better place, now.
